President Maia Sandu discussed with representatives of several French companies interested in the Moldovan market

Moldovan President Maia Sandu met today with several French businessmen, members of the France-Moldova Business Council. During the meeting, they discussed strategic directions of common interest and investment opportunities for Moldova.

The Head of State noted that Russia's war against Ukraine is seriously affecting the economy and energy security of our country. The President thanked French investors for staying in Moldova and stressed that we are counting on more investments to overcome the consequences of this war.

President Maia Sandu also spoke about the firm commitments that our country has made in its European path, carrying out reforms that will help us speed up the start of negotiations for EU accession. The government has set out to clean up the justice system, uproot corruption and digitise several economic processes, allowing the creation of a friendly business environment for local and foreign investors.

The Head of State encouraged French businessmen to invest in Moldova, in particular, in renewables and wind energy, which would strengthen the country's energy independence and diversify energy sources. Other areas of interest include afforestation, production of building materials and the processing sector in agriculture.
